My New Year's Resolutions

Hello and a happy New Year to all of you!! I want to take some time today to talk about my New Year resolutions. At first I wasn't going to make any as I never keep them and they're always really silly ones like "Lose x amount of weight". But over the past few days, some things that I want to do or change have been weighing on my mind so I decided to set a few realistic and simple goals for myself for 2015.

1. I want to start writing again. I used to write all the time when I was in high school. I used to write short stories and had plans to write a novel. While I don't think I will start writing stories again, I at least want to spend some time each day writing in a journal. Or at least writing a daily gratitude so I have good memories of the year.

2. I bought a new car over Thanksgiving break because my poor little '95 Buick finally bit the dust. I have a newer car, a '08 Chevy Equinox. It cost me quite a bit, it was $10,000. Like my Buick, I went to the bank and went to the dealership and bought her all on my own and it was an amazing experience. But now, I have a huge car loan to pay off. I would like to ideally pay half of the loan off by the end of the year. It's a four year loan but I think I can pay it off in half the time if I'm very nit picky with my spending.

3. Also in terms of finances, I would like to pay off my credit cards. I've been working very hard at this over the past year and I want to continue my crusade to be debt free.

4. I want to volunteer more. I'm in a sorority so we do have some philanthropy events and that's great, but I want to do more for my community.

5. Lastly, I want to start saving some money on the side so I can take a trip to somewhere I've never been in 2016. I'm thinking California or South Carolina, just somewhere by the ocean as I've never seen the ocean before. Or maybe to Seattle because I've always wanted to go there.

6. I also want to make more effort with my youtube channel and blog. In 2014, I was super busy with work and school as I had a very heavy course load. I was lucky to get a video a week up and even then, my heart just wasn't into it. I love posting videos, it's what I do. This semester I have a very light schedule so I am going to dedicate time to film and edit videos and also to write more blog posts. I will also try to increase my social media presence on Twitter and Instagram so more people know about my channel.

Ok, so those are my resolutions. I hope I can keep them. I think they're better than my normal, silly ones I used to make. Perhaps I will check back in later in the year to see how they are going. Thank you for reading and I hope your new years is off to a good start!
